Better Homes and Gardens Set to Showcase Local Food and Destinations

Better Homes and Gardens airs on Channel 7 at 7pm AEST tonight, Friday 6 November.

Popular lifestyle program Better Homes and Gardens will showcase some of NSW's spectacular towns and tourism businesses tonight with the entire 90-minute program filmed on location around the state.

The Channel 7 program filmed the 'epic adventure' across NSW earlier this year, with each presenter exploring a different area of the state including the Parkes and Forbes region.

The exclusive NSW episode was secured by the NSW Government through tourism and major events agency Destination NSW to support the recovery of the state's visitor economy.

NSW Nationals Upper House MP, Sam Farraway said both Parkes and Forbes had many unique experiences on offer to visitors and welcomed the profile the national broadcast would generate.

"It's really exciting for regional communities to be featured on Better Homes & Gardens, beaming into loungerooms around the country where holidaymakers may be planning their next NSW escape," Mr Farraway said.

"This region really does have something for everyone, and it is great to see that Fast Ed will be incorporating local food and produce into experiences that make us a must-visit region, hopefully after tonight Parkes will be famous for more than one Dish."

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the broadcast was part of the NSW Government's COVID recovery plan and reinforced the value of tourism to the state.

"We know that tourism will be critical to the state's economic and social recovery, so the NSW Government will continue promoting COVID-safe travel throughout the state to domestic audiences," Minister Ayres said.

"Our Love NSW tourism recovery campaign has resonated well with intrastate visitors and with borders reopening we look forward to welcoming visitors from interstate soon too."

Better Homes and Gardens executive producer Russell Palmer said: "Lifestyle TV is all about finding stories that reach into the heart of the home and BHG has continued to do that in a tough 12 months. The NSW Road Trip episode expands that focus to show the heart and soul of New South Wales, why so many Aussies love hitting the road and the people and places they encounter along the way."

The Better Homes and Gardens NSW edition includes:

  • Johanna Griggs and local and multi-award-winning musician Pete Murray touring the Northern Rivers
  • 'Fast' Ed Halmagyi enjoying a recipe road trip through Parkes and Forbes
  • Australia's leading 'plant men' Graham Ross and Charlie Albone exploring Bodalla, Tilba Tilba and Central Tilba to visit All Saints Garden and Mountainview Farm
  • Tech presenter James Tobin discovers the lunar landscape of Mungo National Park in the Riverina
  • Dr Harry Cooper visits Billabong Zoo Koala and Wildlife Park on the mid-north coast
  • Interiors and design expert Tara Dennis heads to White Cottage at Tenterfield to discuss flowers and antiques
  • Johanna and architect Pete Colquhoun take a tour of one of Sydney's most architecturally significant neighbourhoods, The Rocks

Media Release issued by the Hon Sam Farraway, Member of the Legislative Council, Friday 6 November 2020.
